Happy World Diabetes Day!
Published 10 months ago • 3 min read
Hi Reader!
Happy World Diabetes Day! As I reflect on the past 29 years of my life with diabetes, it is hard even to remember a time when finger sticks, pump changes, carb counting, and constant CGM beeps were not just a regular part of life. Diabetes is definitely not an easy disease to manage, but I am thankful that it has gotten me to where I am today.
Last night, my husband asked me what my job would be if I weren't a dietitian, and I honestly couldn't think of anything! I have diabetes to thank for my career choice, my business, and being able to help others navigate this crazy diabetes journey.
As cliché as it may sound, make sure you take some time to celebrate YOU today! You deserve it!
I challenge you to think of one thing you are thankful for that your diabetes (or a loved one's diabetes) has brought you. Feel free to reply to this email and let me know what that is. I'd love to hear from you!

With the holidays coming up, these sugar-free mocktails could be a great option if you are trying not to indulge as much this year. Keep this one handy for dry January, too!
Basil seeds might be your new favorite blood sugar-friendly superfood! They’re packed with fiber, help slow carb absorption, and can even help you feel full longer. Read more about the benefits of basil seeds and get the recipe for basil seed chocolate pudding in this blog post.
What I'm loving this month on Amazon!
Check out some of my favorite Amazon purchases that I am loving this month:
Diabetes Travel Bag: Did you know you can actually bring an extra carry-on for diabetes supplies when flying? This bag was on Oprah's favorite things list this year, and not only does it make a great toiletry bag, but it can also hold your diabetes supplies for travel. It's on a Lightning Deal today, so it's only $22.94!
My favorite fur-lined winter/rain boots: I bought these same boots a few years ago at Nordstrom Rack and have been so sad that they'll need to be retired soon. I couldn't believe it when I saw them on Amazon for less than $30!
The most comfortable sports bra: This sports bra is lightly padded, but the pads are sewn in so they don't bunch or get lost in the laundry. It is so comfy, and the straps are adorable too.
My favorite cold-weather tea: I've posted this before, but now that the weather is cooling off, you need this sweet and spicy tea! It literally tastes like fall in a cup.
Basil Seeds: Check out my article above, and you will understand my obsession.
Souper Cubes: Now that soup and chili season has arrived, these are so handy! Freeze your leftovers in them, then pop the frozen cubes into freezer bags to save your Tupperware containers and have an easy meal to reheat later.

Hi Reader! School started for my kids this week, and maybe it’s the Type A in me, but being back to a routine feels glorious. I love summer, but by mid‑August I’m ready for cooler mornings and more predictable days. Evenings are officially back to chauffeuring my kids around to soccer, baseball, tennis, and gymnastics. For me, staying busy and having a steady rhythm makes blood‑sugar management so much easier. Next week I have an appointment with a new endocrinologist. My last endo left the...
Hi Reader! I always underestimate how busy summer gets. Between work, vacations, playdates, and being the mom taxi, life fills up fast. Because of that, I’ve paused taking Nourish clients so I can focus on my blog, Omnipod trainings, and private clients in the FTF Warrior program. I truly believe in the FTF Warrior program. It’s designed to help you tighten up your blood sugars, hit 90%+ time-in-range, and predict how food, exercise, and everyday life affect your blood sugars. If you want...
Hi Reader! Happy Prime Day! I've been scouring deals and found some fantastic finds that I use and love personally, that I just had to share with you. Check them out below! On another note, summer is officially here (and it's my absolute favorite time of year! 🌞), which means it's prime time to talk about keeping insulin cool. Between beach trips, pool days, and spontaneous outdoor adventures, don't forget that your insulin needs a little extra TLC in the heat. Speaking of summer vibes, have...
